Newspaper advertising is all about the tariff and the positioning of the ads, therefore different newspaper has its own advertising rates and its calculations, it includes base rates,  premimums, total column, acceptable sizes, page number, front page, back page, metropolitan etc.

Newspapers Ad Rate Calculations

Every Newspaper has its own base rates, it provide foundation for further calculations. This is the first thing you should know when asked for cost of an ad they are usually different for Sunday and weekdays. and are different for commercial, government and government commercial organizations In case of Dawn commercial rate is Rs.2300, Government commercial is Rs.950, Pure government is Rs. 450.

There are different sizes in which an ad can be placed:

and many more they are calculated in Column centimeters. Every newspaper has 8 columns which is a standard in this industry.

Premium is the extra amount that we pay for our ad to appear on the position of our choice these Premiums vary from position to position it is maximum for Front page followed by back page, page 2 and 3, Business and Sport page positions depend on product profile.
